Briar Levit was born in xxx and raised not "as a feminist but by a open-minded single dad".
when she thinks about the starting of feminism in her lifetime, it probably started with the movie "free to be you and me" in 1974.
The movie gave her self esteem, showed her what she already knew but never could put in words and higherly inspired her to become something bigger.
After graduating in the early 2000s at the San Fransisco University, she worked as an art director for the iconic magazine Bitch: Feminist Response to Pop Culture.
During this job she was able to learn a lot about feminism. There she was stuck in a 9/6 and get to know how to live with very little money.
After a few detours and reours that took her to Russia, the UK, and back, she fell in love with teaching and became a Professor at Portland State University.
8th of May: after almost one month now, I have no perfect idea how to use this atelier project for me and make something unseen seen. This is just such a cool and inspiring task and opprtunity to take your time doing something very cool and productive – so I want it to be perfect! The idea, the meaning, the way of working, the output... but like everything that you want to do perfect it feels like standing infront of a huge wall and someone tells you to walk further. It does not work. So I try to forget everything that came to my mind and go a step back. What is important to me? What is interesting to me?Mhhhhh... I like to party, to finish my to do list in the end of the day and to be able to just live in the moment with no input from the outside world for at least 5 minutes. I like pole dance, stretching and the human body, but also the human mind. I like psychology. I like my friends, also instagram is interesting to me. I'm interested into books, into minimalism, spirituality. And now??? Maybe I should start with this.
project ideas pt.1/74
10th of May: TODAY I decided to just start.
12th of May: I found my inspiration: fairy tale: "Des Kaisers neue Kleider"
